In their first match-up against the newest c-division team, the Icemen jumped on the Black aces early and often to come away with a 7-2 victory.
The game contained many firsts for the Icemen:
Jay Burke became the first Icemen to have to stick-handle around three opponents before getting a shot on goal while on a breakaway.

Pat Morin is the first Icemen to shoot hard enough to send a water bottle flying as he scored a goal.
and Lastly, I'd mention something about Tim Polanowski, 3-yr old girls and a first F-Bomb but I don't want to ruin this week's Tim Bits.
"The Black Aces actually had some good skaters and were certainly not without talent", said Icemen spokesman Paul Sampson. "Once they get some games under their belt and play more of a team game together, they are going to be very competitive."
