Recap: ICEMEN BLANK VIPERS, 1-0 The Icemen shutout the Vipers 1-0 last night to improve to 6-1-1 on the season. The lone goal came early in the first period by center Jay Burke and the Icemen dominated puck possession the rest of the way to earn a shutout for goalie Bob Casero. The victory came just one day after a special “The Decision” segment on Hockey Night in Canada when winger Bobby Guindon crushed the hearts of the Habs faithful with his announcement, “This summer, man as a Canadian this is very tough, I'm going to be taking my talents to Iceworld and join the Baltimore Icemen” In his return to the ice after more than decade, “Ding Dong” was instrumental in keeping the Vipers pinned in their zone for long stretches with his smooth skating and pinpoint accurate passes. “It was awesome getting to center Bobby and Brad”, said Burke. “If my girlfriend's birthday falls on a game night next year, she's gonna have to pick up some McDonald's on the way to the rink.” With all three lines contributing to frustrate the Vipers offense and keep the pressure on their defense, the Vipers were held to only 13 shots, one less than the number of dives/concussions suffered by Bill Korab. After the game, a distraught Tim Polanowski was seen banging on the Vipers locker room door shouting, "I'm sorry Wes! I'm still invited over for the BBQ on Saturday, right?" Despite only one goal recorded in the game, Brian McElwain lead the Icemen with 3 Assists.
